Cash in Flow can help VaultRule feel smoother — but too much cash makes overspending easier. The goal is convenience without losing the Flow boundary.

The simple rule
Keep only 3–7 days of “cash spending” in Flow as cash.
Enough for small situations (tips, small shops, emergencies) — not enough to quietly drain your month.
Why too much cash breaks Flow
- Cash is easy to spend without noticing.
- It reduces the “pause” moment you get with a balance check.
- It makes it harder to enforce a Flow cap.
A practical default
If you want a simple default that works for most people:
- Withdraw a small amount once per week (or every two weeks).
- When it’s gone, it’s gone — you’re still inside Flow.
My Recommended Tool for Flow: Wise
Ideally, your Flow account should be separate from your main bank. If they are in the same app, it's too easy to "borrow" from your savings.
I personally use Wise for my Flow account because:
- It separates spending: My bills stay in my main bank (Vault), my coffee money goes to Wise (Flow).
- Instant notifications: Essential for knowing exactly when you hit your limit.
- ATM friendly: You can withdraw your weekly "Flow cash" from any ATM easily.
Prefer a normal link: Open Wise.
Make the boundary stronger with a Flow cap + alerts
Cash works best when Flow still has a clear spending cap: How to Set Your Flow Limit (Spending Cap).
And set low-balance alerts so you slow down early: Spending alerts and guardrails.
Combine with the “one card for Flow” setup
For most people, the cleanest setup is: one Flow card + small weekly cash. Use: One card for Flow (card strategy).
